ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maria Xinopoulou has studied Fashion Design. She completed her studies in Fine Arts at “Les Yper Yper”, Institute of Arts and New Technologies.
Maria works mostly on paper with colored pencils and complementary watercolor, pastel, ink. She uses initially photos from personal archives and the web to direct her compositions. Her work lies in the field of visual art and illustration, with the intense elements of hidden clues and unexpected syntheses. Drawing her inspiration from everyday moments in urban environments and the emotions evoked, she focuses on the contemporary urbanite.
She always struggle between the aesthetics, the beauty of the image and the deeper meaning behind it, that most of us can identify with, interpreting the images as illustrations of their own stories.
Maria Xinopoulou lives and works in Thessaloniki, Greece.
